This factsheet aims to communicate the trends and barriers faced by the bio-based industry.
Consumers' demand for bio-based products is a growing trend over the last few years that are pushing industries in looking for innovations and new solutions. However, more investments and research activities are required in order to offer products with same price and similar (or even better) properties of the fossil-based ones.
Based on the data collected by Biobridges project through interviews, desk-analysis and co-creation events, this factsheet presents in a simple and short way the emerging trends in 4 sectors (chemical, bioplastic, bioenergy and food, feed and cosmetics ingredients) as well as the existing barriers that the industry is facing at the moment.
